The Central Standing Committee held their 5th Emergency Meeting, following the Karen National Union’s 15th Congress. The two-day meeting was successfully held from 14 – 15 August 2015. Forty-four Central Standing Committee members (out of fifty) attended the meeting. They discussed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), and the preparation for the political dialogue after signing the NCA.
The Summit of the Ethnic Armed Organizations’ top leaders was held successfully at the KNU Headquarters’ Law Khee Lar Camp in Pa-an District, Karen State, for eight days, from June 2 to 9, 2015. The summit was attended by 108 representatives and observers from 17 Ethnic Armed Organizations, 11 members of the Nationwide Ceasefire Coordination Team (NCCT), 5 members of the NCCT technical assistance team, and specially invited personages, a total of 190 persons including office staff members.
1. On 12 February 2015, the 68th Anniversary of the Union Day, the Chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State, Lt. Gen. Yawd Serk, signed the Deed of Commitment for Peace and Reconciliation with the Government at the signing ceremony held at Naypyidaw.

We all know that members of the United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC), together with fraternal ethnic armed resistance organizations, have been endeavoring by various means, with the specific intent of ending over 60-year-long civil war in Burma/Myanmar and resolving the political problems, through round-table talks and consultations with successive governments, and now the Nationwide Ceasefire Coordinating Team (NCCT) and the Union Peace-making Work Committee (UPWC) are holding talks for realizing the signing of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
